How to use BIT TORRENTS
I'm on Widows XP, though think I can explain or at least guess well enough for OSX also. I'm sure there are better ways to go about this process though this works pretty well for me.
First: Download a Client
I use Azureus, which you can download free for Windows HERE & for Mac HERE
Second: Search for Torrents
I use torrents.to which allows you to search several different sites via tabbed browsing.
Third: Download a Torrent
Once you've found whatever file (movie, album, program, dvd, etc) that you'd like to have CLICK to download the torrent and your Client will open & use it to connect you to other computers w/ the desired info and will begin to download it. (P2P) The more people who are 'seeding' the file the quicker it will download.
Fourth: Enjoy Free Information!
Some movie files will require decompression and will come as a whole bunch of seperate files, select them all together and extract them into a single file.
Usually you can find software programs that come along w/ a Crack or Serial Number, but failing that you can use serials.ws to find what you need.
Check the comments section before downloading a torrent, there will usually be warnings if the file contains a virus, I do trust torrents that have alot of seeds but no comments though.
Often times you may run into little snags getting something to work, though I haven't yet failed to get the info/file I wanted, if you get stuck, burn some green and hit buttons till it works! seriously!
BONUS: Also:
To then take the Movies you've downloaded and make them into DVDs I use DVD Flick (free download) It only works for Windows, though I think maybe Mac may have something like that built into the OS already?
It really is a very simple procedure once you get the hang of it and it opens up an unlimited media library. For example on friday I thought "Gee I'd like to have the new Rush album now & for free, not later and for $$$" and about half an hour later it was so. Not too shabby.
Suggestions, comments, & questions are welcomed and encouraged.
